Yining Fang

Yining Fang is an artist currently based in New York, pursuing a BFA in Fine Arts. Born and raised in Shenzhen, she began her artistic journey scribbling on her childhood home’s walls. Her work centers around her own experiences as a woman in society, focusing on the relationship between bodily sensitivity and the plasticity of space. Working primarily through drawing, sculpture, and printmaking, she explores subtle shifts in spatial rhythm and material sensitivity, creating works that bridge internal perception and external form. In 2021, she attended the School of Visual Arts, where she developed her multidisciplinary practice.

During her time at VillageOneArt gallery, Yining organized artist talks accompanying exhibitions and managed the publication of news posts on the gallery’s official website, as well as content on Instagram. She is a co-founder and visual director of a photography studio that documents intimate moments within minority communities, which preserve narratives often overlooked by mainstream media.

Yining’s works have been featured in art magazines, including Visual Opinion published by SVA. Her works have been exhibited in three group exhibitions at the SVA Galleries. Moving forward, she continues to investigate the intersection of bodily perception, emotional memory, and constructed environments in her practice.
